How to Hack your Luck to become successful By

HGYC Founder Tara Geraghty

Do you have big goals this month?  Not sure how you'll hit them? Well it’s March, so all you'll need is a little luck!

Kidding aside, sometimes we tend to think it’s luck that makes someone successful. That’s, of course, only what unsuccessful people think. It reminds of the famous saying by Thomas Jefferson: ”I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”

The word luck can be traced to a Dutch word “Gheluc” meaning “happiness, good fortune.”

We often think luck is reserved for the “lucky few” who happened to be at the right place at the right time, (like Dustin Moskovitz & Eduardo Saverin who were the 2 friends Mark Zuckerberg invited to his dorm room to start Facebook and are now worth 6.5 and 3.4 Billion respectively) or the unlucky (like the other 3 who were invited but failed to show up!)

And yet even in that example we can see luck had very little to do with it! Dustin and Eduardo had to SHOW UP! They had to take action. They had to DO SOMETHING!

So what if we could mix our “taking action and doing something” and sprinkle a little luck on it this month?

Ok stay with me here…. What if we could actually trick our brains to think we were lucky so we would actually make our own luck?

What would life be like if you woke up every day and said to yourself “I am the luckiest person in the world! I can’t wait to see what lucky things will happen today!!!”

What if every time you answered a text message, picked up the phone (ok who does that anymore?) or checked an email, you thought “I wonder what “good fortune” is on the other end of this?”

What if every interaction with someone made you think, “I’m so lucky for this person in my life!”

What if every time you got a ‘no” or had a disappointment you thought, “I’m so lucky, the universe has my back! Here I thought that was going to be a good thing! Obviously, the universe knows something I don’t!”

I dare you to spend one day this month walking around all day just thinking you were the luckiest person on the planet. You’re the person who always gets the best parking spot, the best seat in the restaurant, the best connection, or the best opportunity.

What would start to change for you?

Brian Tracy, the author of Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life: How to Unlock Your Full Potential for Success and Achievement says:

“The Law of Attraction says that you are a “living magnet” and that you invariably attract into your life the people, ideas, opportunities, and circumstances in harmony with your dominant thoughts. When you think positive, optimistic, loving, and successful thoughts, you create a force field of magnetism that attracts, like iron filings to a magnet, the very things you are thinking about. This law explains why it is that you don’t have to be concerned where your good is going to come from. If you can keep your mind clearly focused on what you want, and refrain from thinking about what you don’t want, you will attract everything you need to achieve your goals, exactly when you are ready. Change your thinking and you change your life.”

So who’s ready to change their life? Maybe all you need is a little luck!
